Floral Selection

Fresh blooms will change during the drying and casting process.

Most white and light yellow flowers will turn ivory during drying and show more wear during casting.

Light colors bloom, e.g., light purple, pale pink, and light blue, will deepen during the drying process but generally looks bright in the blocks.

Dark colors bloom generally turn even darker. For instance, red roses will turn into dark burgundy and even close to black depending on the roses’ origin.

Flowers with fragile petals shall be avoided, as they fall off easily once dried. Examples are chrysanthemums, giant sunflowers, daisies, dahlias, and calla lilies.

Flowers that contain lots of fluid, like tulips and lotus, will not maintain their shape once dried.

Blooms that cannot be preserved at all are succulents and berries.

With these details, work with your florist closely for a unique bouquet on your big day!
